AMBASSADOR RICHARD T. KABONERO PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT MUTHARIKA OF MALAWI.

H.E. Richard Tumusiime Kabonero, High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda yesterday 10th May 2018 presented his letters of Credence to H.E. Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi at the Sanjika Palace in Blantyre, Malawi. 

Ambassador Kabonero conveyed to H.E. Mutharika warm, fraternal and brotherly greetings from His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the people of Uganda. 

Ambassador Kabonero pledged to strengthen further the existing warm and strong bilateral relations between Malawi and Uganda and underscored the need to establish a Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) between the two countries to facilitate bilateral cooperation in all fields. He also expressed the desire for increased economic cooperation between the two countries especially within the COMESA framework and the Continental Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) which was signed in April 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda. 

The envoy, extended appreciation to H.E. Mutharika for the role Malawi is playing in advancing peace and security on the African continent including sending peacekeepers to Sudan. 

He appreciated the support of Malawi to Uganda' candidatures and positions in the international fora.

In his remarks, H.E. Mutharika, welcomed Ambassador to Malawi and wished him success in his duties.  He also conveyed his warm greetings to H.E. President Museveni and said he looked forward to Ambassador Kabonero's coming back to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Malawi and Uganda.   

Ambassador Richard Kabonero was accompanied by Oscar J. Edule, Counsellor.
